Early Career

Booth quickly expanded his various mining operations and by the time he was 28, he was making over $1 million per year. The conglomerate group at the head of the mining operations is Booth Energy, which produces. 7.5 million tons of fuel per year.

In order to diversify his holdings against a decline in the coal market, Booth started or invested in several retail and real estate ventures in eastern Kentucky and West Virginia. He now owns owns 19 Fast Lane convenience stores, 10 fast food restaurants serving 8 million customers in 2013, Car City, Elite Insurance, R&J Building Supply, and more.

Booth attended Warfield High School in Martin County, KY, and received a bachelor of business administration from Morehead State University.

After working in coal mines for a few years during college, Booth co-founded Beech Fork Processing, Inc.
