MVA and EVA- Suction or vaccuum. Lowest rate of infection.


D & C - Dilation & curettage - Opening of the uterus and curettage (scraping and scooping) of the contents.


Mifepr. - Mifepristone (RU-486) - Used long with Misoprostol, 95% effective in terminating pregnancies <50 days in.


D&E - Dilation and Evacuation - dilation of the uterus and surgical removal of contents. Commonly performed after miscarriage.


Hyst. - Hysterotimy abortion - abdominal incision allows for fetus to be removed from uterus (similar to a cesarean section birth).


Intact dilation and extraction - fetus is removed intact (used in late-term miscarriages and late-term abortions).


Induced Miscarriage - medically inducing deliver of the fetus before it is viable.
